Garland says that had he not been found, probably he would have attempted to get out again, but is doubtful if he could have done so in his weak condition and with fingers already frostbitten. Judging from his story, and the evidence of the rescuers who led him out of Coire Raibert, he would have gone on trying until life, not courage, failed.
