`ALL IN
A DAY`S WORK`
RAF MOUNTAIN RESCUE
in Snowdonia 1944 - 1946.
Crashed aircraft, Stranded or Injured climbers,
lost hikers and fell walkers, Don`t worry! The Mountain
Rescue Service will be there to help.
But ever wondered how Mountain Rescue teams were
formed? Why they were formed? and who the pioneers
were?
Then here is your answer.
This book is based on unofficial diaries of LAC
John Campion Barrows on day to day events in the
first Official RAF Mountain Rescue Unit at Llandwrog,
Nr
Caernarvon, North Wales, in WWII, It has
all the callouts from January 1944 - Jan 46 in which no
fewer than 22 aircraft accidents occurred aside from several
incidents involving climbers and injured hikers.
The book has B/W 60 photos and a Roll of Honour to airmen
who lost their lives in crashes in the mountains and at
112 pages long it is a lasting memorial to both airmen
and rescue team members alike who gave their all it turbulent
times.
Book is signed by the Author.
This book is £4.95 + £1.25 P&P with £1
from each sale being donated to the Glossop Mountain Rescue

Hi
Guys,
There is a mistake in the Newsletter, Front Page, re
the meal charge for the reunion at Newtonmore on 24th
May 2008. IAW the decision taken at the 2007 AGM see
OtH page 23, members pay £5 less so the meal charge
for members is £15 and if you stay overnight at
the Highlander Hotel the charge for the Dinner + B&B
will be £40.
My apologies for this oversight,
Brian
