RAFMRA Constitution Application Form Committee Members

The Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Association

For serving and ex members of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service

The RAFMRA was formed in September 1993 following the very successful 50th anniversary of the formation of the RAF MRS held at Bangor N Wales. Membership is open to all present and past members of the MRS and a formal Constitution, established the MRA’s aims.

The RAFMRA was officially recognised by the Air Force Board later in 1993 and since its inception we have had to good fortune to have the patronage of AVM Bob Honey.

The association is managed by a committee, and in keeping with the best traditions of the MRS meetings & administration are kept to a bare minimum, normally one committee meeting per year held immediately before the AGM. In keeping with the constitution the association has established and maintains a database of members of the MRS and has erected 3 national memorials to the MRS;

1) A memorial tree at the National Memorial Arboretum at Arlewas

2) An engraved stone plaque in the grounds of Carlisle Cathedral dedicated to Sqn Ldr George Desmond Graham DSO MBE RAF whose singular actions resulted in the formation of the MRS in 1943

3) A memorial plaque in the Crypt Chapel of St Clement Danes church in The Strand, London recording the names of the 12 Troops who died whilst on MRS duty

To join the MRA simply printout and complete the application form and send it to the Membership Secretary, we would all urge applicants to pay their annual fee by Standing Order to ease the cost of administration. Membership confers the right to attend the annual reunion, to receive both the annual journal “On the Hill” which is normally published in September and a Spring Newsletter plus access to the Members Only portion of this website.
